Landscapes
Road Vision
This painting is taken from my imagination.
I pictured a woman taking her dog for a nice long walk down a country lane on a long afternoon, with no particular place to go. Just two friends out for a stroll in the fresh air.
Bush and Stone
This one is based on the reading of Joseph Sheridan LeFanu's eerie little vampire story "Carmilla". The colors and shapes are based on my emotional reactions to the story I was reading.
In Carver's Harbor
The harbor of Vinalhaven, Maine, is full of tranquil little boat scenes such as this.I knew I had to paint it when I saw it. I was so excited to see the shapes of the reflections in the water linking the resting boats.
Little Boat
In Maxwell's Field
This image was made after a
summer jog through the fields of a kind nieghborhood farmer here in Cape Elizabeth. The fields are home to corn, pumpkins, Canadian Geese in the early fall, and crows all year round.
Last One Home
This was done on site while on tour in Ireland. It is a quick study of a straggling sheep making its way down the lane at the end of the day. Top of page
Birches
Summer Sailors
This image is taken from childhood memories of lobstering with my father among the ragged islands of Penobscot Bay.
Turfcutting Day in Ireland - like it was in the old times.
